Dendrobrium Aphyllum

Dendrobium aphyllum, commonly known as the Leafless Dendrobium or Hooded Orchid, is a striking species native to the Himalayas and Southeast Asia. This epiphytic orchid is admired for its long, pendulous, cane-like stems and beautiful soft pink to pale purple blooms with a delicate yellow throat.

True to its name, “aphyllum” (meaning “without leaves”), this orchid drops its leaves during winter dormancy, after which it bursts into bloom in early spring. The flowers often appear in pairs or small clusters along the bare stems, creating a visually dramatic and fragrant display.

It thrives in warm climates with bright, indirect light and good air movement. During the active growing season, it needs regular watering and feeding. However, in winter, it requires a dry rest period to initiate flowering.
